Imaging deeply into intact tissue has long been a challenge for microscopy that often required multiphoton excitation. An alternate strategy has been to use a “clearing” technique to reduce or remove the light obstructing molecules from within a tissue. Recently, new clearing strategies have been described that clear brain tissue and preserve genetically encoded labels and the antigenicity of native molecules. In this webinar, we will hear from Olga Efimova, Viviana Gradinaru and Kwanghun Chung who will discuss the latest techniques being developed in their labs to rapidly clear intact brain and other tissues. This webinar is for anyone interested in learning about how these new methods can be applied to aid the imaging of whole organs and tissues using widely accessible tools like laser scanning confocal microscopes and newly developed microscopes using light sheet illumination.
