Safety at the HCBI is a top priority. Documentation can be found here as well as posted throughout the facility.
New users will undergo a brief lab safety orientation for the facility upon their first visit. Users are expected to be up-to-date on their chemical and biological safety training from their own labs.
We are approved for:
Biosafety Level 1 (BSL-1): Mouse and chicken tissues, B. subtilis, E. coli (non-pathogenic strains), S. cerevisiae, S. pombe, A. niger, P. chryosgenum.
Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2): Human cells/ cell lines
