Chemical and Biological Safety

Safety at the HCBI is a top priority.  Documentation can be found here and posted throughout the facility. 

New users will undergo a brief lab safety orientation for the facility upon their first visit. Users are expected to be up-to-date on their chemical and biological safety training from their own labs.  Please contact the HCBI staff if you have any questions or concerns.

We are approved for:

Biosafety Level 1 (BSL-1): Mouse and chicken tissues, B. subtilis, E. coli (non-pathogenic strains), S. cerevisiae, S. pombe, A. niger, P. chryosgenum, C. elegans, Zebrafish, Termites

Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2): Human cells/ cell lines, discarded human tendons, 

If your biological sample is not listed, please contact HCBI about adding your experiment to our COMS protocol
